Find Mechanic AU

Privacy policy

Find Mechanic AU (findmechanicau.com) is a free directory that helps Australians locate mechanics, car repair and servicing workshops, and auto electricians in their area. This notice sets out how the site handles information, consistent with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Who's behind this site The directory is run by Selim Akcan. For anything to do with privacy, write to [email protected].

Browsing without an account There's no login wall here. You can search workshops by suburb, read reviews and compare opening hours without ever creating a profile or handing over your name.

Technical logs we keep Our hosting platform automatically records a short technical trail for each visit: your IP address, your browser's user agent, the specific pages you asked for, and the date and time. The sole purpose is to keep the site running properly, spot unusual traffic and prevent abuse of the server.

Where the workshop details come from Listings for mechanics, servicing workshops and auto electricians are built from information already published on Google Maps and Google Business Profile — trading name, address, phone number, website, opening hours, star rating and reviews. We do not collect this ourselves. If a workshop detail is wrong or out of date, or you would rather your listing was not shown at all, email [email protected] and we will sort it.

Getting a quote or booking When you click through to contact a listed workshop, that enquiry — whether about a roadworthy check, a service booking, or a quote for repairs — goes directly to the business. We are not party to that conversation and do not see what you discuss with them; we simply point you to their listed phone number or website.

Workshop qualifications and warranties This directory does not verify a workshop's trade qualifications, insurance or the warranty terms attached to any repair. Those are matters to confirm with the workshop itself before you authorise any work.

Cookies and advertising This service stays free thanks to advertising. Google and other advertising partners may drop cookies in your browser so the ads you see are based on your interests. If you would rather not have that, visit adssettings.google.com to adjust your preferences, or turn cookies off entirely in your browser — the directory keeps working either way.

Links away from this site Workshop profiles link out to businesses' own websites and to their Google Maps entry. Once you leave findmechanicau.com, whatever privacy practices that other site follows are theirs, not ours.

Your rights and how to raise a concern You can ask what personal information, if any, we hold about you, and request that it be corrected, by emailing [email protected]. If you are not happy with how we have dealt with your request, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) can review the matter.
