4.7 / 5 · 88 total⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointed with my experience. I took my car in for servicing, and before the service there was **no engine warning light**. After the service and after paying to have several parts replaced, my car came back with the **engine light on**. Instead of fixing the problem, I ended up with a new issue that wasn't there before. I expected professional workmanship and better quality control, especially after spending a significant amount of money. 4,500! I hope the business takes more care when servicing customers' vehicles and takes responsibility when problems arise after their work.
Incredible service. Easy online booking and rescheduling. They send you a video explaining the condition your car is in for every service. Affordable and friendly. Being new to Toowoomba, these are now my guys!
I initially brought my 2019 Volvo XC40 in for a routine service on 5 March 2026 and specifically raised concerns about a suspension warning my vehicle was actively displaying. I was advised to “keep an eye/ear on it,” despite the car clearly indicating a suspension servicing issue. I then had to book a second diagnostic appointment, costing $363, where I was advised a part needed to be ordered from Sydney. I was originally quoted approximately $2,000 inclusive of parts and labour, which I accepted. After delays and rescheduling (despite the part already having arrived), my vehicle was booked in for the repair on 30 April 2026. I dropped my car off at 7:30am expecting the repair to be completed that day. At 1:40pm, I was contacted and told they “didn’t realise how big of a job it would be,” that it would now be a “2 day job,” and that they had “never seen anything like it before.” At that point, no repair had actually been completed, and my quote had increased from approximately $2,000 to $2,900. I was advised the part itself was approximately $1,400, meaning labour had increased to around $1,500. Due to the significant change in cost, conflicting information, and concerning comments regarding the repair complexity, I lost confidence and sought a second opinion directly from Volvo Brisbane. Volvo Brisbane charged $200 for diagnostics (compared to the $363 I had already paid), confirmed the same issue, quoted the same required part at $1,155, and quoted approximately $300 in labour for the same repair, advising it was a 2–3 hour job, not a 2 day job. I understand quotes can vary between businesses, however the substantial discrepancies in diagnostic cost, parts pricing, labour pricing, and repair timeframe between Hi-Mech’s assessment and Volvo’s assessment for the same issue significantly impacted my confidence in the advice I was given. I would recommend just making the trip to Brisbane and having Volvo themselves take care of your car.
Had a harmonic balancer installed in my wife's bmw x5 diesel the balancer was supplied by them the most expensive balancer I could find was $700 the job takes about 45 minutes to an hour cost to supply and install $3000 bloody expensive.
Ben and the team are incredible, more than knowledgeable and the workmanship is second to none.
Honest. Reliable. Quality service and advice. Trusted. Would highly recommend and will be taking my business to Ben and the team from now on.
Had a, what I would say, intermittent miss in motor power while driving mainly, rather like in the old days, misfiring spark or fuel supply. Hi-Mech did a diagnostic examination and now the miss seems to have gone completely. Really satisfied with the rectification and feel assured, we can travel a bit without too much fear. Really recommend them for efficiently and expertise.
