4.2 / 5 · 113 totalI went there for a towbar wiring kit issue. There was already a wiring connection, but I wasn’t sure if the plug-in kit would work, so I asked them to check first. I was told they needed to check something at the front where the light comes on, so I agreed. After the job was done, I was charged for 2 hours of labour. Later, I was told nothing was actually done at the front and the work was only at the back. From what I saw, the kit was simply plugged in. When I questioned the charge, the response was basically that they didn’t know it would be that simple, but I still had to pay for a 2-hour job. That does not make sense to me. I feel like I was overcharged for a very simple task. Be careful and confirm the labour cost clearly before assigning any work.
I can't comment on their service capabilities but I can on trying to contact to book. The contact form online doesn't work, and they don't answer the phone. Phone went straight to hold. 20 minutes later it still wasn't answered. If customers/potential customers aren't to ring on Saturday have a specific message that says this phone is only manned Mon-Fri. They were recommended but this does not inspire confidence
Had a recent alternator failure in my car and had to get towed to Gibbs on a Sunday evening without prior notice. The guys had my car ready and repaired two days later, and went above and beyond by way of communication and quality of work.
I don't do a lot of reviews, but GIBBS helped us as " stranded interstate travellers" like champions. Our drama started just before 4.30 pm on Friday afternoon about 100 klms out of Canberra. Gibbs are NRMA approved and had lots of detailed and realistic good reviews. Dennis took our call and was immediately helpful and organised. He used our rego to ID our vehicle VIN and thus he immediately was able to order the new Alternator. The car was towed to their large Belconnen workshop on Saturday morning by ACT NOW tilt tray (as helpfully suggested by Chris of Gibbs). The part arrived 10 ish on Monday. By 10 am Tuesday they had squeezed us into their obviously busy schedule and fitted the Alternator ( a transverse V6 with Alternator down low between engine and firewall...not an easy one at all !) A huge thanks is due to Rob and his well oiled and efficient team !
My young son had his pride and joy Hilux booked in for regassing the air-conditioner. They charged him $160 for 30 minutes of labour to tighten a fan belt. 5 minute job as all that is needed is loosen the idler and wind the adjuster bolt. No levers. You think in the other 25 minutes, they could have noticed the belt was badly worn, which is why it was still slipping when he got it back🤦♂️
The team at Gibbs were so amazing when our beloved station wagon broke down and required them to solve the issue. They offer friendly and outstanding dedicated customer service. We have our station wagon back and are overjoyed. Thankyou 🌻
I was referred to these fellas as I was told them having a good reputation. I have a Sprinter bus with a roof aircon unit with a noisy compressor, I spoke to Dennis and he said that I would need to book for at least 6 weeks time as they were very busy in which I was happy to do. He said let he had to double check as he believed they didn't do roof units, he came back saying they don't do 240v units in which I said my unit is not 240V, but then saying that Rob was just simply not interested in doing the job. I had plenty of people talk up these guys but I was very disappointed in my dealings with them.
