What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Buyers of second-hand vehicles and owners bringing cars in for servicing and repairs feature in the feedback, with accounts covering a broad range of outcomes. Named staff draw particular mention, including Cliff, whose help with a used Outlander purchase was credited with removing the stress of buying remotely, and Kathryn, described as supportive from the moment a vehicle was towed in through to collection. The standard of work in servicing and repairs is a recurring subject.

Difficulties are reported with similar frequency, among them a car returned after a scheduled service with an oil leak underneath and residue near the filler cap, a transmission that was assessed, given fresh oil and handed back as safe to drive without the underlying fault being resolved, and multiple visits across several months during which basic issues remained outstanding or needed new bookings with long waits. Communication shortfalls also appear, including incorrect details about an accessory and calls that were not returned. Customers describe an inconsistent experience, where considerate service from individual staff sits alongside unresolved mechanical faults and coordination problems.

Living in Mackay with a Volkswagen for 6 years this is the only spot you can send your car to for annual service (to keep with the service structure as per VW) and I would say, every single year, the service was poor. From providing a service date only to arrive being told it was not documented, to waiting for parts that were ordered but never ordered and needed multiple calls where I was just connected from one person to another, to overfilling some oil cause error messages, only to send it for servicing again and being told that the previous service (at the same place) had overfilled some oil, to just an overall poor communication EVERY SINGLE YEAR. I have sent an email to the managers describing my experience - however heard nothing. The issue here is that there's no competition, people in the community have no choice but to go here, warranty etc becomes an issue if we see a mechanic thats not VW authorised so places people in a difficult situation. I will not be heading to this place for service ever again.

Terrible service centre. Vehicle was towed in as it had a noisy engine still under warranty. After 5 weeks of calling and never receiving a call back was finally told that they had ordered parts for repairs. Took another two weeks for parts to arrive and when they did they said they had the car scheduled in for the repairs end of the following week. Only when pushed saying that the car has been there for 7 weeks did they say they'll try and do them sooner. After finally getting the vehicle back I discovered that they had only done some of the repairs and didn't bother to contact me about doing the additional repairs that the manufacturer recommends whilst the car was there. Worst experience with a service centre ever, absolutely zero communication throughout the whole ordeal. Go elsewhere

Ford Everest transmission failed and when this mob looked at it they diagnosed a faulty main valve assembly, after finally getting a quote for $4500 and waiting 3 months they came back with a sorry the fix didn't work! Ford Au came to the party and provided a new transmission but Ford Mackay kept my $4500 for their repair that failed. After escalating compensation all the way to Ford Au and another 6 months of waiting it was decided that I am owed nothing. I even offered for them to keep the labour portion and pay me back for the parts that weren't even used. I have an email chain of 32 emails in 3 months where i couldn't get a simple answer. I then originally posted this review before the manager contacted me completely unaware any of this had happened! He asked me to take this down so he could look into it before promising me a decision quickly, then after contacting him again it became a decision no later than the next day, then I was ghosted for a further 3 weeks before I finally gave up this 11 month ordeal to start legal proceedings. Why pay overs for repairs or services that you can get from a smaller more trusted shop, AVOID FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT ALL COSTS and avoid the stress and hassle I've had to deal with.

Put my car in for the 90k service paid $800. My car now vibrates, and looks like my bearings are damaged, which the checks were part of the service. After calling them I was told that they couldn't fit me in for another month and said it couldn't be something they did, and if I didn't like i could go somewhere else, then she hung up on me. Completely unprofessional and rude.

5 stars, I cannot say enough good things about Cliff from Mackay City Auto Group, he went above and beyond to help with the purchase of my outlander, and took all of the stress out of buying a 2nd hand car site unseen. Thank you again Cliff it was a pleasure to do business with you.

DON'T BUY FROM THIS PLACE!!! This has to be the worst car dealer company in Australia. They don't care. Zero customer service, don't call you back, don't reply to your emails. Be all nice when you're walking around to buy a car, but once you own it, they don't wanna know you. Car bought, driven 62km, and it went into limp mode. Called and emailed, nothing, no email, no call, 1 pm the next day, still nothing.
