These guys clearly understand how important service vehicles are and went above and beyond to get us sorted fast. Super grateful for the efficiency, communication and quality service. Disappointing experience with Headland Auto. I took my car in for suspension and related work that was quoted at $2,600. When I collected the vehicle the following day, the total had increased to $3,200. At no point was I asked to approve a higher price. When I drove the car away I noticed the dashboard clock had lost the time. Within 24 hours the car was struggling to start and the battery was flat. When I opened the bonnet it was clear the battery terminal covers were off and hanging from the terminal wires. I called Headland Auto and was told they had not opened the bonnet, and that the car had been taken off-site for a wheel alignment. They said they contacted the third-party workshop and were told the battery had not been touched there either. Headland Auto stated they had not touched the battery but could not vouch for anyone else. When I asked for an explanation, the owner became defensive, raised his voice, spoke over the top of me, and asked me to provide proof that the battery terminal covers were in place when the car was handed over. I have since had to replace the battery at my own cost ($300). Combined with the additional $600 added to the original quote, the job ended up costing $900 more than expected. I would have preferred to resolve this directly with the business, but unfortunately based on this experience I cannot recommend them. **update following business response: Thanks for the detailed response. To clarify, there were no prior issues with the battery before the vehicle was brought in. However, immediately after collection, the dashboard clock had reset, the battery terminal covers were no longer in place, and the battery went flat within 24 hours. Battery terminal covers do not remove themselves, which raises reasonable concern given the timing, regardless of whether the bonnet was expected to be opened during the work. Regarding the cost, it was mentioned that additional time may be required due to seized components, but no specific revised cost or total was clearly provided to me for approval before the work was completed. Being advised that something may take longer is not the same as agreeing to an increased final price. I also note the comments about incorrect parts being ordered and alternative arrangements being required. From a customer perspective, this forms part of the repair process and does not change the expectation that any additional costs are clearly communicated and approved before proceeding. This reflects my experience so others can make informed decisions.

Friendly and generally good, but questionable AC knowledge. Three services, limited problems detected in AC even though same issue was reported each time. Took it to auto electric down the street and they diagnosed some very obvious issues. Compressor was warped and fan belt was missing. Not sure how it was missed. Bit disappointing to hear after being a loyal customer for so many years.
Such a positive experience. Friendly, non judgmental, professional and honest. I wasn’t overcharged at all, they even didn’t charge labour for my fan. They were incredibly understanding about my situation and went above and beyond to help me when I was stressed about money. Hard to find mechanics like this these days. Highly recommend.
Great place to have your car attended to. I take my Mazda there for mechanical and air conditioning servicing. It’s a pleasure to have somebody who is plain speaking in regards servicing and repairs. Their rates are quite reasonable.
We take all our vehicles here for our business. I trust what they say and do with the vehicles and I don't need to question everything anymore as they've built that trust. I like sending my fleet of vehicles here because I know they are being worked on by an expert and I understand the way they explain it. I recommend this place.
