Cairns Mechanical Workshop

Cairns Mechanical Workshop is a locally owned and operated mechanic based in Cairns, established in 2014. The business has more than 40 years of combined mechanical experience and specialises in both heavy and light vehicles.

Its services include general servicing, vehicle air conditioning, brakes, engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, exhaust, fuel systems, buses, trucks, and fleet vehicles. It provides roadworthy certificates (RWC), safety certificate inspections (SCI), heavy vehicle inspections, and certificates of inspection (COI). The service area includes Cairns, the Tablelands, and beyond.

Car repair and maintenance work, brake repairs, vehicle inspections and auto air conditioning servicing form the core of what this Cairns workshop handles, and the feedback from regulars and travellers alike centres on the same handful of themes. A number of customers describe the pricing as honest and reasonable, with quotations given before work begins and parts sourced at a fair cost, while others repeatedly mention that the team keeps them informed throughout the job and explains what is being done.

Steve, named in most accounts, comes across as upfront and hands-on, and reviewers note that he and his crew go out of their way to help, whether sorting a second opinion on a truck, chasing a hard-to-find part for an older vehicle or fitting in an urgent brake failure just before the Christmas closure. Long-standing clients using the workshop for fleet servicing speak of years of consistent results, and the friendliness of the staff comes up often, including from women travelling alone who felt they were treated fairly. Diagnostics, repairs and servicing are described as thorough and efficient, with problems resolved properly rather than patched over.
